Film Lovers
Film Licences – Good News! Recently we and our national subject adviser for film, Mike Johnson, have become concerned about the showing of films by U3As in public places, particularly where it is a film club with more of a social rather than educational slant. As a result, Susan Radford our Resource Centre Manager has spent a considerable amount of time negotiating with the 2 companies who between them licence all the film studios and we now have some good news for you.
We are pleased to inform you that with effect from 1st February, there will be a licence in place paid for by The Trust, which will cover the use of all films made by the studios covered by MPLC.
As far as Filmbankmedia is concerned, we have negotiated a significantly reduced licence rate of £60 per annum commencing in April.
If you do show films in public, I would strongly recommend that you consider taking this licence out and then you are totally covered and would not have to check to see which studio produced the film.
